Long before it became the road travellers know today, this route toward the upper Matawinie region was shaped by the early settlement movement that opened up the territory in the 1860s. It is a journey that not only leads you into nature, but also into a region marked by history and the pioneering spirit of Lanaudière.
On your way, stop in Saint-Jean-de-Matha for a visit to Maison Louis-Cyr, where you will discover the fascinating story of one of Québec’s most legendary strongmen. After this cultural stop, continue on to Saint-Michel-des-Saints and Auberge du Lac Taureau, where you will spend the next two nights surrounded by nature.
After breakfast, enjoy a full day at Auberge du Lac Taureau and make the most of everything the site has to offer.
