Departure from Radisson metro station at 9 AM.
On the road, your driver-guide introduces you to local culture and history and leads discussions on board.
First stop is at the Saint-Gabriel Vinyard in St-Gabriel-de-Brandon. Established in 2006, this organic vineyard of 35,000 vines is certified by Ecocert Canada. The guided tour of the wine cellar with its 125 French oak barrels is unique and impressive. You also have the chance to taste organic wines and stroll through the antique tractor museum.
The second stop is at the Val Notre-Dame abbey store. Trappist monks, who arrived from France in 1881, trained the first generations of agronomists and veterinarians in Quebec. Now established at Val Notre-Dame Abbey since their move from Oka Abbey in 2002, they devote themselves to spiritual and fraternal life, to silence and to nature. The Abbey store is a place where you can find a multitude of forest products from the Abbey itself and many other local producers.
It’s meal time! Enjoy a picnic lunch box meal highlighting local products to discover. A simple menu, but full of flavors!
The next stop is la Terre des Bisons, a family farm focusing on big game: bison and elk since 1994. Visit the large interpretation center including an exhibition room which tells the history of the bisons then follow the exterior interpretation trail where you can observe the herds in the pastures. To finish, taste the bison tartin and take a tour of the shop to discover little treasures.
For the last stop, we meet in Nouvelle Acadie, in Saint-Jacques de Montcalm, for a visit and tasting at the Distillerie du Grand Dérangement. This strange, crooked building houses the distillery and the distiller’s economuseum. You will learn the process of distilling gin, vodka and whiskey, the principles of grain to bottle and circular economy used on site as well as the history of distillation in Quebec. The visit ends with a product tasting and a visit to the economuseum. An unmissable discovery in the cradle of New Acadia.
Then climb on board one more time to return to Montreal after a day of discovering pieces of the history of food the beautiful region of Lanaudière has to offer. Return to Montreal around 6:30 p.m.
